Praise for Better Than Medicines:
I wish all of my patients would read and heed this book. It presents a common sense approach to living in a way that can help make and keep you healthy. Some modalities may be new to some readers, but Dr. Carlston explains their rationale and use clearly and helpfully. Then again, if all my patients read this I might have a lot fewer patients! Andrea Gordon, MD, Director of Integrative Medicine, Tufts University Family Medicine Residency Program at Cambridge Health Alliance

A well written book about taking charge of your own health. Dr. Carlston has given us a clear roadmap to better health via 10 common sense habits that each of us can bring to bear in our daily lives to increase well being now and into the future……..There is a mountain of supporting data along with a penetrating analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of our current approach to health in the US.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to take control of their well being, get healthy, and/or stay that way. Amazon reviewer.
This book is fascinating and a bit horrifying by turns, and entirely useful. Dr. Carlston, a well-respected medical doctor and homeopathic doctor, presents ten changes you can make in your lifestyle, and gives compelling reasons for making those changes.
He tells you why those changes are important and what the effect of making those changes (or not making them) can be. Dr Carlston speaks encouragingly about how making these changes can be fun. He says that even if you just make a few changes, you can be that much healthier.
In addition to the chapters on the ten essential health habits, Dr. Carlston has several useful chapters on complementary and alternative medicines (CAM), including advice for physicians and patients on how to evaluate a CAM practitioner. Amazon reviewer
